Mike's Dyersburg Real Estate Blog

Of course I am talking about the planned Activerain training session next month in Dyersburg, Tennessee. If you will remember we did a post a couple of months ago suggesting that Activerain should hire a person to be a field trainer. Not only has that occurred in the hiring of Brad Andersohn but he is coming to Dyersburg for the first of (I am sure) many training sessions on how to blog more effectively on the Activerain platform.

My personal assistant just got the travel arrangements confirmed for Brad's trip to Tennessee from California.

The training will be conducted on Wednesday May 7th from 9am-1:30pm at the "new" Holiday Inn Express in Dyersburg.

Here is a map of where Dyersburg is located and also a map showing the Holiday Inn Express! We have the conference room reserved for this training. As a reminder to the Activerainers coming, "please bring your wireless notebooks for hands on interaction while Brad is training". There is limited seating left so if you are interested please call me ASAP (731-285-2277).

I just talked to the manager(Lou Adams) at the Holiday Inn Express and she said she will give us  a great rate for rooms($79) but you need to call now to book(Brad will be staying here). To reserve your room, call 731-286-1021 and tell them you are coming for the Activerain training and you want the $79 deal Lou is offering us!

My agents and I and all the others are so excited about this upcoming event!  We would like to thank Activerain for helping us to make this happen! As far as we know, this is the 1st Activerain field training that has been provided in Tennessee!

I was teaching a class last night at church and everyone was in the "sharing" mood so we shared. One of the guys told us about a discussion he was a part of where one guy was trying to prove global warming.

There was an 8 year old little girl present who said, "I am not afraid of global warming because it is impossible".

The group was intrigued by this little girl so they asked her why not?

Here is her response: Genesis 8:22 was "spoken" by God right after Noah and his family and all the animals got on the ark. God said, "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease!

This is my first video with this devise and surely I will get better as the days go by! I was walking through my office with flip in hand. Many here  recommend using a tripod which I will do shooting a interviewing video!

Brad Andersohn, if you are reading this I plan to video parts of the the first Activerain training session you are teaching here in West Tennessee on May 7th.

Hopefully I have done this right and will not have to return here for corrections!

According to sources including the Dyersburg State Gazette, an Arizona hose manufacturing plant is shutting its doors and moving that operation to its Newbern "Eaton" facility.

Durodyne will be closing its 85,000 sq ft operation by December. Up to 45 employees have the option of moving with their job to Newbern. Currently Eaton employees 187 people at its Newbern facility and this number should grow by 45 people by December 2008.

This of course is welcome news to Dyersburg and Dyer County. Newbern is in Dyer County and only about 8 miles or so northeast of Dyersburg. Many of the current Newbern workers make their home in Dyersburg!  

If you are a born again Christian you will notice how the "Lord"  sends people into your life!

What I want to talk about today is how the "Lord" sends people into my "business". Over the last 5-6 years I cannot count the number of "Christian" people who came to me wanting to buy or sell properties.

The first one I want to mention is my new secretary. About 3 years ago, Donna and James came into my office and said they wanted to buy a house. I always ask new customers and clients why they choose me. Donna told me she prayed over as she opened the home guide and the Lord said stop here with Mike. The Lord wanted her to use me as their Realtor.

About a year ago, I went by a fsbo and talked to him about selling his house. He was a preacher relocating out of state. I ended up with the listing and the sale. Coincidence or God incidence? I believe the later!

Then on Friday I get a call from a missionary living here in Dyersburg who wants to sell his house and move back to Uganda(Africa). He told me he was referred by a friend. I really believe God used this friend to hook me up to this Christian missionary.

God is so good to me but he also expects me to be so good to his people!

I just completed a new post on my blogger platform about a new industry coming to Blytheville,Arkansas.

This information was provided mainly by an article written by Mark Friedman in ArkansasBusiness.com. This new company will be locating at the old Blytheville Air Force Base. The company name is Aviation Repair Technologies and it will be a $20,000,000 air frame and engine repair facility.

Projections are for 310-440 employees within 3 years. The average wage paid is projected to be $20 an hour.

The location for the new plant(Arkansas Aeroplex) is perfect for this new company. This industry is locating on the old Blytheville Air Force Base where the single runway is over 10,000 ft long. Most large jets will have the ability to take off and land there. There is also a published IFR approach into this airport which will enable these aircraft to take off and land even in marginal weather. I have used this IFR approach and airport several times in the past for practicing ILS approaches.

Many of the employees moving into the area to work at this new plant will choose to live in Dyersburg,Tennessee because of the excellent housing, schools, shopping, restaurants and medical services.

Many of the employees working in the Blytheville area either at Nucore Steel Mill or related industries(close to the mills) do live in or near Dyersburg and drive about 40 minutes to work each and everyday. 

My company and I relocate many of the "new" Blytheville workers into Dyersburg,Tennessee 38024 and I suspect we will assist many of these new employees as well. 

Several months ago,I wrote a blog post titled, "Is 13 a lucky number or what?" In this post I explained that I was currently 13th for Tennessee Activerainers. At that time I had 23,660 points.

Today, I am locked in a see saw battle for 13th for all Tennessee Activerainers. Today I have 53,250 points which is more than double the points I had several months ago.

I have every intention to holding on to that 13th position ! I really think that is my lucky number! Also, it is neat to be on the first page of all Tennessee Activerainers and I have every intention of climbing even higher! Thanks Activerain for the learning and experiences I have encountered!

Earlier today I did a post about how we can even defeat giants.

There are a couple of more verses that I should have included in that post. The first one is Psalms 62:8 which says, "Trust in him at all times you people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us"!

The second scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths"! 

All we have to do is approach God with our requests(with a thank-ful heart) and we can rest assured that he will give us what we need; maybe not what we want!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit another church for their morning service. Their membership rotate the job of delivering the message. Yesterday, Randall camped out in the book of Joshua chapter 11.

Joshua was appointed  by God to lead the people after Moses's death and he lead them first into the wilderness for 40 years because of the people's unbelief. Remember the story of the 10 spies being sent in to spy out the land. They were promised by God that he would take care of them and deliver the enemies to their hands.

In Numbers 13;33 we read, "There we saw giants(the descendants of Anak came from the giants) and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight".

All but 2 of the spies said we cannot take this land(relying on their own strengths) so God allowed them to wonder for 40 years and all the ones 20 years or older died in the wilderness(except Joshua and Caleb).

Now here we are 40 years later and God has given Joshua the command to go in and take the land he had promised to them 40 years earlier. Joshua 11:23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes.  

Joshua and the Israelites were greatly outnumbered by the Anakim(the giants that scared the spies) and other kingdoms that banded together and came against the children of Israel and God!

Application for us: There is nothing that our God cannot do and we are promised by God that he will never leave or forsake us. So, with God's help we can do mighty things just like Joshua!  

Last night my wife and I along with two friends went to Memphis to hear Joel Osteen. Not only did we hear Joel, but we also heard Victoria(his wife) and also got a short message from his mother. 

In my opinion, Joel is more of a motivational speaker than Gospel preacher. One message that he repeated over and over again was the message of thanksgiving. He kept saying to approach God with a thankful heart.

Joel did not use this scripture but I am reminded of Psalm 95:2, Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving! 

We should continue to have a thank-ful heart at all times for the blessings he has and continues to shower down on us all!
